Competencies

In this module, you will deepen your knowledge of sports economics and institutions and learn how to relate the general economic knowledge you acquired in module 31-M1 ("Introduction to Economics") to your profile-specific field of application. On the other hand, you will address methodological questions of sports economics and expand your knowledge of economic theories and empirical analyses in order to be able to apply them in the context of economic problems.

You will demonstrate the acquisition of these technical and communicative skills by demonstrating your knowledge and understanding of the issues dealt with in this module in the form of a written exam or oral examination on a selected topic and by actively participating in discussions on other topics in the two seminars.

Content of teaching

Drawing on the understanding of concepts and theory acquired in the module "Introduction to Economics", the courses in this module are dedicated to in-depth economic analyses of the sports sector. In the "Markets" seminar, different market forms and markets are explicitly discussed and the consequences of the various structures are analysed. In the "Organisation" module, the focus is on the various organisational forms and structures of sport, which are examined against the background of global differences and developments.

Recommended previous knowledge

The successful completion of module 31-M1 as well as the courses "Fundamentals of Sports Economics" of module 61-PW-GL2
and the courses of module 61-PW-SM are strongly recommended. Similarly, the simultaneous
attendance of the courses of module 31-M4 is also strongly recommended.
