You will deepen your knowledge of theories and empirical findings in the field of (sports) psychological or sports therapy support and their cognitive and neurobiological foundations. You will be able to interpret current empirical findings and critically reflect on research approaches. You will recognise general principles of strategies and measures of cognitive or movement-based behavioural intervention measures and be able to assess the effectiveness of individual procedures for selected settings and problems.
You will expand your specialist knowledge of various experimental approaches in order to be able to apply them in your Bachelor's thesis. In your Bachelor's thesis, you will demonstrate that you are able to use scientific methods to address an exercise science and/or sport psychology issue. The accompanying seminar promotes your ability to write your Bachelor's thesis in accordance with scientific standards.
In the course "Current fields of cognition and movement", you will gain an overview of the current state of research on dynamic testing procedures, the use of evaluation instruments in coaching and counselling situations or in the context of movement-based intervention procedures for selected clinical pictures. You will learn how to analyse and interpret evaluation results and how to use them for data-based feedback. The focus is on stabilising, optimising and restoring athletic performance or everyday motor skills. This is taught both theoretically and in practical units. References can also be made to current research approaches to the problem of action control in sport and everyday motor settings.
You will gain a practical insight into different experimental approaches through your participation in experiments in various working groups (totalling 15 hours).
With the guidance and support of the accompanying seminar, you will work on either a theoretical or an empirical question from the Sports Science sub-disciplines of movement science and sports psychology as part of your Bachelor's thesis. The thesis is usually based on a Sports Science theory course. Topics for Bachelor's theses are assigned by all teaching staff who hold seminars in modules of the "Psychology and Exercise" profile.

The Bachelor's thesis is an independent scientific, written elaboration of approx. 12,000 words (excluding title page, abstract, table of contents, table of figures, bibliography, tables, figures, appendix and declaration of independence). Students must demonstrate that they can work independently on a scientific task from the range of topics covered by the degree programme within the specified deadline.
To this end, students contact a supervisor and discuss a possible assignment. The supervisor is responsible for issuing the final assignment. The processing time begins with this issue. At the same time, the supervisor and student must ensure immediate registration at the examination office, in particular to appoint the examiners and document the examination procedure. The Bachelor's thesis can be written in German or English in consultation with the supervisor.
The processing time is four months.
The thesis must be submitted on time, preferably in electronic form, to the Sports Science examination office.
Further regulations can be found in the Bachelor's examination regulations.
