Competencies

In this module, you will acquire knowledge of different models and theories of "aesthetic education" and learn to engage with and critically reflect on different didactic approaches. You will also expand and deepen your knowledge of the aims, subject areas, methods and assessment criteria that the subjects of music, art and sport have in common. You will learn to combine the perspectives of the different subjects and apply your knowledge and skills to interdisciplinary teaching projects with regard to teaching practice in primary schools. You will learn to independently develop and supervise primary school-specific and interdisciplinary teaching projects.
The module qualifies students for the primary school-specific requirements of interdisciplinary teaching in the field of aesthetic education.

Content of teaching

In the lecture series "Aesthetic Education: Fundamentals of the subject combination of music, art and sport", selected theories of "Aesthetic Education" are discussed from a historical and systematic perspective. Further content includes various didactic models of "aesthetic education" and interdisciplinary teaching.

The seminars provide an insight into questions relevant to primary school music and art education and methods of interdisciplinary teaching in aesthetic education (art/music/sport): This seminar focuses on an in-depth examination of primary school-relevant, subject-linking approaches and their opportunities for inclusive lesson design. Students will learn how to deal with content, materials and methods at the interface of art, music and movement based on the principles of aesthetic education. Interdisciplinary teaching projects are tested and discussed as a medium for shaping social relationships and promoting non-verbal, aesthetic communication skills. Students gain insights into the working areas of multi-professional teams in inclusive learning situations.

In the project Crossover "Sound/Space/Body/Image", a presentation is designed in a joint artistic process that combines different subjects, whereby practical school references are shown.

Weighting 1
Workload 120h

The individual presentation is independent and combines musical and artistic elements and/or aspects of movement. It has a duration of approx. 15 minutes. If the presentation is carried out in a group, the respective contribution of the individual group members to concept development and realisation must be clearly recognisable and documented and a correspondingly more complex and extensive artistic project (of at least 30 minutes and up to 45 minutes) must be developed.
The teaching staff of the "Crossover" project act as examiners.

The assessment criteria are

  • independent conception and development
  • Consideration of the design criteria and principles taught
  • Standard of execution (technology, use of media and materials, scientific references)
  • Appropriateness of the presentation in terms of the relationship between expression, form and content
