The students improve the ability of working on a field of research independently and solve socio-politically problems by means of the modern theoretical as well as empirical methods of economics. They improve the essential special knowledge in economic theory and/or quantitative methods in order to be able to start a master thesis successfully.
Students choose lectures, seminars or practical exercises from the regularly offered topics in:
Evolutionary Game Theory, Topics in Microeconomics, Social Choice, Information Structures, Risk Allocation and Prices in Financial Markets, Cooperative Game Theory, Optimal Taxation Labour Economics, Differential Games, Computational Economics, Topics in Macroeconomics, Topics in Econometrics, Computational Statistics, Empirical Methods in Economics, Topics in Finance, Topics in quantitative Methods
The modules of the first two semester need to be completed successfully.

For the specialisation and deepening of the knowledge on economic theory and quantitative methods lectures and/or seminars and/or practical exercises amounting to 12 credits in total have to be chosen. These can be selected from one or more subject areas. A maximum of two practical exercises may be chosen, and for each practical exercise a 'Studienleistung' has to be completed.

The module examination consists of a portfolio of exams where the contents of the attended lectures and seminars are examined. Several forms of supply are possible (eg seminar presentations, written exams). Form and duration are announced on time by the examiner. The overall assessment is subject to the person responsible for this module.
