You will acquire fundamental knowledge about selected aspects of sport development and the interplay between the sport and media system and learn how to relate general sociological and socio-historical as well as economic knowledge to your profile-specific field of application. In doing so, you will deepen your ability to analyse selected problems in a methodically controlled scientific manner and at the same time acquire an essential basis for practice-oriented conceptual work, which will also be tested as part of this module. In the context of the seminar paper and in the course of preparing for the module examination, you will also consolidate your communicative skills while paying greater attention to academic standards.
You will prove that you have acquired these skills by demonstrating your knowledge and understanding of the issues dealt with in the courses in an oral examination.
In this module, you will build on the basic knowledge of sport sociology acquired in the course "Sociological and Historical Foundations of Sport" (module W-G1) and gain further insights into the connections between sport and society, dealing with selected problems of the genesis of the sport system as well as aspects of organisational development and management from a sociological and socio-historical perspective. In addition, you will address questions and problems that arise in modern society due to the connection between the sport and media system.
Successful completion of the course "Sociological and Historical Questions of Sport" of the modules Spowi-GL is strongly recommended.
