Competencies

You will acquire knowledge of the general principles of sports psychology training and be able to assess the effectiveness of individual methods for selected situations and problems. This will enable you to develop concepts for target group-specific counselling and sports psychology support and to apply selected techniques and procedures.

You will prove that you have acquired these competences by demonstrating your knowledge and understanding of the issues dealt with in the courses in a written examination.

Content of teaching

Building on the lecture from the specialist foundation, you will deepen your knowledge of the psychological foundations of sporting behaviour. You will deepen your knowledge of topics such as action theory, perception in sport, cognition and learning, emotions and stress. You will also gain an overview of sports psychology intervention strategies in training. This includes teaching the theoretical foundations and methods of mental training and self-instruction. Self-regulation and control methods such as autogenic training, progressive muscle relaxation and anxiety regulation will be taught both theoretically and in practical sessions. The theory and practice of interaction and communication processes in groups round off the course content.
