Competencies

In this module, you will acquire basic knowledge, skills and abilities for the design and instruction of movement, play and sport situations in different groups (both age- and gender-homogeneous and -heterogeneous groups) under the conditions of school sport. You will gain new movement experiences and expand and improve your movement repertoire. In addition, you will broaden and deepen your knowledge of various fields of movement. You will acquire the skills to analyse error patterns, make movement corrections and evaluate performance. Finally, you will be able to critically reflect on and apply various teaching models with regard to different objectives and target groups.

The examination of sports practice generally consists of three elements, a practical examination, a practical teaching examination and a propaedeutic course in sports motor skills, whereby these are spread across different modules.
In the practical teaching examination, you demonstrate in-depth competences in the area of "teaching" in an exemplary course of the module.
In the practical examination, you will demonstrate in-depth competences in the area of "sports motor skills" in an exemplary course of the module.
A more in-depth examination of the fundamental sports motor skills for your professional field takes place in the sports motor skills preparatory course. The areas that are the subject of a practical examination are not tested again in the propaedeutic course in sports motor skills.

The practical or practical teaching examination is carried out as an example in a seminar. Both elements are intended as partial module examinations, with one partial examination in this module and the other partial examination in the first practical sports module (DM-1). The practical sports examinations, i.e. the practical and practical teaching examinations of the modules DM-1, DM-2 and, if applicable, DM-3, must each be taken in different areas.
The areas are as follows:

01 Body awareness and psychomotor skills
02 Playing and games
03 Running, jumping, throwing - athletics
04 Movement in the water - swimming
05 Moving on and with equipment - gymnastics
06 Designing, dancing, performing - gymnastics/dance
07 Training in school sports
08 Wrestling and fighting
09 Natural sports / gliding, travelling, rolling
10 Health-orientated practice/ fitness sports

The propaedeutic course in sports motor skills must be completed in this module.

The theory examination on the competence area "Theory of movement, subject-specific and methodological-didactic knowledge" is taken across all courses on the content of teaching of the three courses of the module. It is not possible to take an examination in all courses in the compulsory elective area.

Content of teaching

The course "Athletics - running, jumping, throwing" covers various disciplines such as sprinting, high jump, long jump, javelin throw, shot put, hurl and spin throw. In this context, modern teaching and learning methods are taught against the background of methodological and didactic measures. Organisational, set-up and social forms are also shown. In addition, the proper handling of teaching materials and various safety measures are discussed. In addition, pedagogically oriented forms of games, tutorials (in connection with lecture/seminar) and competitions are presented, which characterise modern physical education beyond the maxim of higher, faster, further.

Based on various didactic concepts of teaching, "Gymnastics - Moving on and with Equipment" is thematised on the one hand as a compositional-aesthetic individual sport, in which the central focus is on learning standardised movement elements and combinations. On the other hand, gymnastics is also treated as a field of movement that opens up an individual approach to equipment or combinations of equipment as well as various opportunities for partner and group gymnastics. Particular emphasis is placed on teaching appropriate forms of helping and securing.

In the "Games at secondary school level" course, you will learn exemplary didactic methods based on an integrated approach, such as how target shooting games and rebounding games can be taught in their various forms in heterogeneous groups. Both skill-orientated and ability-orientated didactic-methodical concepts are included.

Depending on the student's choice, the following content is addressed in a fourth course:
In the "Designing, dancing, performing II" course, you will study selected dance styles from different eras and the social contexts in which they are embedded. The content also includes specific dance techniques (e.g. positions, isolation techniques, turns, jumps, falls), which form the basis for in-depth creative work in dance improvisation and composition in individual, couple and group designs.

Technical and tactical elements of various martial arts such as judo, wrestling, karate, taekwondo and various self-defence systems form the central subject of the "Wrestling and Fighting" courses. Further content includes specific forms of games and exercises to methodically introduce and train physical and coordination skills. There are also various types of meditation and regeneration. This is accompanied by an examination of the above content from a pedagogical and didactic-methodological perspective.

The area of "gliding, riding, rolling" includes, for example, inline skating, cycling, rollerblading or waveboarding, ice skating, skiing and snowboarding in the area of winter sports and sailing, windsurfing and canoeing in the area of water sports. The content of teaching relates to various riding techniques and safety measures as well as didactic and methodological aspects of teaching these techniques, taking into account different age groups and different teaching situations. Special emphasis is placed on the didactics and methodology of beginners' lessons.

In the "Games and Play" section, you will choose a sport-specific course from either "Target Shooting Games" or "Rebound Games". On the basis of recent game didactic approaches, both skill-orientated and ability-orientated methodological approaches for the school and extracurricular context are discussed in the relevant course.
The focus is on game-orientated concepts for teaching sports games.

In the course "Introduction to psychomotor development", you will deal with the question of the extent to which psychomotor movement education can contribute to the development of children and young people and for which groups it is particularly suitable, in a close combination of theory and practice. At the centre of this is the claim to enable the addressees of psychomotor support to have personal, material and social experiences in the medium of movement or movement play, by means of which they can expand their general competence to act. Against this background, they will test various didactic and methodological concepts in psychomotor activity situations and reflect on these against the background of selected theoretical principles with regard to different target groups and fields of application. The focus here is particularly on heterogeneous conditions in the context of inclusion and the possibilities of designing inclusive educational settings in general and physical education in particular.

Recommended previous knowledge

Successful completion of the courses "Designing, dancing, performing I" and "Bewegungsspiele/Mannschaftsspiele" is strongly recommended for the elective courses "Designing, dancing, performing - II" and the sport-specific course in the area of "Spielen und Spiele".

Necessary requirements

Explanation regarding the elements of the module

Notes on course and examination selection:
In this module, either the practical teaching or the practical examination must be taken. In addition, the sports motor skills preparatory course must be completed.
No coursework is to be completed in the course in which the practical sports examination is taken.

Cross-module regulations:
The other practical sports examination must be taken in the first practical sports module (DM-1).
The practical sports examinations of the modules DM-1, DM-2 and, if applicable, DM-3 are to be chosen from different areas. The compulsory elective courses of the modules HRSGe_GymGe-DM-2 and GymGe-DM-3 must be chosen from different areas.

Reasons for the necessity of three module examinations:
In the seminars, didactic-methodological and movement-theoretical aspects of the respective sport and movement field are taught in an integrative manner and sport-specific performance and technique are also trained. For technical and organisational reasons, a separate examination of the individual aspects of competence acquisition (motor skills, teaching skills, subject-specific knowledge) is necessary in the sport and movement fields.

An academic achievement is a task that is performed for practice purposes. In a practical course, such tasks are the demonstration of practical sports performance and the instruction of sports groups on a smaller scale (approx. 10 to 20 minutes). In addition, the preparation of minutes of a meeting or an abstract of a short text of no more than 1200 words etc. may be required.
Practical sporting achievements include special techniques and skills as well as safety-relevant knowledge (e.g. assisting and assisting holds, setting up and securing equipment arrangements in accordance with current safety regulations, rescue techniques). These are practised in each of the sessions as part of the coursework to be completed. The skills acquired in this area are therefore assessed in each session. They cannot be learnt purely through self-study, or only with considerable restrictions. In this respect, if more than 20% of the sessions are missed, the practical sports performance, including the special techniques and skills as well as the safety-relevant knowledge, cannot be practised. Deviation from this 20% rule is only possible for important reasons and requires clarification in a personal discussion with the respective teaching staff.
