Competencies

Erwerb fachlicher Kenntnisse. Fähigkeit zur Vermittlung von Wissen und Ergebnissen durch mündliche Präsentation (Seminar) und Erstellen von Protokoll / Gruppenposter. Gefördert wird das Verständnis komplexer Entwicklungsmechanismen und Systemeigenschaften. Praktische Kenntnisse werden erworben in den Bereichen: Mikroskopie, Präparations- und Färbetechniken, Polyacrylamid-Gelelektrophorese, experimentelles Arbeiten mit einfachen und komplexen lebenden Metazoen, zeichnerische und photographische Dokumentation.

Content of teaching

Das Modul soll eine Einführung in die grundlegenden Vorgänge bei der Entwicklung tierischer Organismen ge-ben. Nach einer kurzen Darstellung der Geschichte und der wichtigsten Methoden der Entwicklungsbiologie werden die grundlegenden Vorgänge bei der Befruchtung, der frühen Entwicklung der Zygote und des Embryos und die prinzipiellen Vorgänge (Molekulare Grundlagen der Zelldifferenzierung, zelluläre Interaktionen; Wegfindung; Entwicklung der links-rechts-Asymmetrie) bei der Bildung der Organe dargestellt. Ergänzend werden Anwendungen der Entwicklungsbiologie in Landwirtschaft, Prouacduktion und Medizin ("Reproduktionsbiologie"), sowie Entwicklungspathologie (z.B. Tumorbiologie, Neoplasie) und Altern diskutiert.
Im Seminar erarbeiten die Teilnehmer theoretische Kenntnisse zu wichtigen Mechanismen der Entwicklungsbiologie und die Fähigkeit, diese unter Anwendung moderner Präsentationsmethoden darzustellen und zu vermitteln.
Im praktischen Teil soll am Objekt in Einzel- und in Gruppenarbeit ein Einblick in grundlegende Entwicklungsvorgänge (Beobachtungen) und -mechanismen (einfache Experimente) an einem breiten Spektrum von Organismen gegeben werden: zelluläre Schleimpilze als einfache Modellorganismen für Aggregation und Morphogenese, Insekten (Chromosomen, morphogenetische Mutanten, Hormone), Seeigel (Befruchtung), Huhn (Organbildung), Maus (Entwicklung der Keimzellen, Gonaden, Embryo und Plazenta), und Mensch (Blut, Plazenta)

Notwendigkeit von zwei Modulteilprüfungen:
Das Portfolio (oder das Protokoll bzw. die Präsentation) dokumentiert den Ablauf der exemplarischen Versuche und interpretiert die erzielten Ergebnisse.
In der Klausur oder der mündlichen Prüfung wird dem gegenüber die Fähigkeit zur Verallgemeinerung und Einordnung in das Zusammenhangswissen geprüft.

Die erzielten Ergebnisse werden zudem als Präsentation in medialer Form veröffentlicht oder als Protokoll verschriftlicht.

In der Regel ist das Portfolio zu erbringen.
