Competencies

Non-official translation of the module descriptions. Only the German version is legally binding.

Students acquire in this module on the one hand competences and skills in statistics, but on the other hand the move to a different university also enhances intercultural skills and the competence to work in a culturally different environment. Students develop their statistical, social and communication skills in an intercultural context.

Content of teaching

In this module students acquire advanced skills in the area of statistics and/or a methodologically linked area (like e.g. empirical economics, empirical sociology, mathematical statistics, statistical physics) at a foreign university. The contents of this module are statistical and/or methodologically linked topics and research questions, in particular structural issues, scientific instruments and methods. As students must move to a foreign university for this module, the particular content of the courses in this module depend heavily on the curriculum of the hosting university. A "learning agreement for studies" regulates the courses attended according to the courses offered at the hosting university.

Recommended previous knowledge

Necessary requirements

The prerequisite for participation in this module is a stay abroad at a foreign university. Prior agreement between the student and the universities involved in the exchange in the form of a "Learning Agreement for Studies" is mandatory for the work to be completed as part of a study abroad programme.

Explanation regarding the elements of the module

The courses and examinations to be completed depend on the respective conditions of the foreign universities. A total of 8 CPs must be completed.
