Protestant Theology

FsB vom 02.05.2014

Theology is about understanding the meaning of Christian teachings for today. Biblical theology examines the biblical texts to understand their original meaning and contemporary relevance, while systematic theology organises the central tenets of faith into a logical system and applies them to modern issues. Religious education focuses on how religious knowledge is communicated in educational processes to promote understanding and ethical awareness. All three disciplines work together to make faith understandable and meaningful in today's world. This is the common approach in Bielefeld Theology, which is characterised by openness to different perspectives and collaboration with other disciplines such as religious studies, philosophy and social sciences.
