The interdisciplinary Master's degree programme focuses on the human movement system and its link to cognitive competences (intelligence and memory). The qualification objective is to combine knowledge of the natural and cognitive science fundamentals of human movement with modern methods for movement and memory analysis.
Based on the acquisition of competence in experimental work with quantitative sports science and research methods from the field of movement science (e.g. kinematic movement analysis) in combination with innovative cognitive diagnostics (e.g. electroencephalography and memory analysis), this degree programme enables students to apply, develop and evaluate movement-related training and rehabilitation measures with innovative technologies (e.g., virtual and augmented reality systems).
This degree programme can be studied with a focus on Sport & Exercise and/or Sport & Technology and thus opens up both sport-related and technology-related professional fields. Due to its explicit scientific orientation, the degree programme also offers good conditions for pursuing further scientific qualification after graduation.
The Master's degree programme imparts the movement-related factual and mediation competences necessary in sport-related professional fields. These competencies can be implemented and applied in the areas of movement and performance diagnostics in clubs, associations or companies or in fitness and health sports (e.g., evaluation and development of therapy and training measures) or rehabilitation and sports therapy (e.g., evaluation of orthopaedic and neurological treatment concepts).
Likewise, the competences taught enable students to adapt technical systems to processes of human action planning and movement possibilities in technology-related professional fields' (e.g., in the development and evaluation of cognitive and motor assistance systems).
Applicants for the Master's degree programme "Intelligence and Motion" should have an increased interest in deepening existing knowledge of Sports Science and/or neurocognitive psychology and be willing to develop this knowledge further from an interdisciplinary and research-oriented perspective for activities and learning processes in sports or health-related contexts. For technology-related occupational fields, there should be an interest in deepening existing knowledge of technology science.
