Biochemistry

Biochemistry at Bielefeld University offers a comprehensive study of cellular processes and biological molecules. Students learn theoretical principles and practical skills through intensive laboratory practicals. The safe handling of chemicals and the independent handling of (bio)chemical problems are at the centre of the course. The degree programme combines biochemistry with molecular biology, genetics and biophysics and contributes to advances in medicine and green chemistry. Special features in Bielefeld are practical research and the opportunity to specialise in innovative areas such as chemical biology or cellular biochemistry, which opens up a wide range of appointments.
