A broad range of topics
The curriculum includes, amongst other things, health counselling and education, health management, organisational consultancy, health system design and health reporting.

Focus on health equity
As a cross-curricular theme, this interdisciplinary programme explores ‘equity in health’ – that is, the question of how health inequalities can be identified and reduced. This enables students to critically analyse the social, economic and political factors influencing health and to contribute to promoting greater equity in the healthcare system.

Engaging with current health issues
The programme addresses contemporary topics such as digital transformation, social inequality, global health risks and planetary health. This equips students with knowledge that directly prepares them for current developments in the healthcare sector.

Practical training with skills development

In addition to specialist knowledge, personal development and skills relevant to the labour market are specifically strengthened and promoted from the outset. Students can gain practical experience early on in their studies and engage with potential career fields in a practical way.

Individual specialisation through specialisation tracks

During the specialisation phase, students can choose between health behaviour and health determinants, health communication, and healthcare provision and health systems, thereby refining their own specialisation.

Good progression opportunities to further master courses

The Bachelor’s degree in Public Health in Bielefeld provides a solid foundation for subsequent master courses, particularly the consecutive Master’s in Public Health at Bielefeld University. This enables students to further deepen their specialist and methodological knowledge in a targeted manner.

The Bachelor’s degree programme in Public Health opens up a wide range of career prospects in a field with a promising future. Depending on the specialisation chosen, graduates can pursue careers in a wide variety of areas: The Health Communication specialisation offers opportunities in health education, public relations, science communication and the development of health campaigns. The Health Behaviour and Health Determinants specialisation qualifies graduates for roles in prevention, health promotion, health reporting, as well as in the public health service, health insurance companies or NGOs. Those who choose the Healthcare and Health Systems profile are primarily prepared for roles in healthcare management, health policy, health insurance, government agencies or the further development of healthcare delivery systems. Furthermore, the programme provides an excellent foundation for a subsequent master course in Public Health, in which specialist and methodological knowledge can be further deepened.
