Biology is the scientific discipline that studies life. At the Faculty of Biology, this diverse subject can be studied across a broad spectrum: Cell and Molecular Biology, Genome Research, Neurobiology through to Behavioural Research, Evolution and Ecology are all areas in which specialisation is possible. Faculty working groups work in pioneering interdisciplinary fields such as biomedicine, bioinformatics and biotechnology.
Students come into contact with current research questions and methods at an early stage and are increasingly able to work independently on research projects. Practical laboratory components are firmly integrated into the courses.
Studying biology opens up an understanding of the interrelationships in living nature and a wide range of prospects for future appointments.
