Curriculum Vitae

Sarah Hitzler studied linguistics and sociology in Bielefeld and Amsterdam. From 2005 to 2009, she was a research assistant in a research project on “Reflexive Care Planning as a Communicative Process of Negotiation and Decision Making”. In 2010 she received her doctorate (summa cum laude) for a conversation analytical study on practical dilemmas in care planning conferences. From 2009 on, she worked as a lecturer at the Faculty of Sociology at Bielefeld University, and as a research coordinator at the ZiF research group “Communicating Disaster”. She joined the workgroup "Qualitative Research Methods" in 2016. During the summer semester of 2021, she worked at Leuphana University, Lüneburg as an administrative professor for "Social pedagogy with a focus on comparative youth welfare". In 2022, she joined the DFG-funded research project "Planning in Action" on the construction of future by means of communicative genres headed by Prof. Dr. Ruth Ayaß.

Group interactions, support and self help, disability, the communicative accomplishment of future, genre analysis, conversation analysis and ethnomethodology
