Curriculum Vitae

Professor (University of Cyprus, Aydin) Dr iur. Aygörmez, LL.M. (Bielefeld) has been teaching at the Faculty of Law at Bielefeld University since 2004.

Since 2013, she has occasionally delivered courses on criminal law and criminal procedure, environmental criminal law, climate criminal law, medical criminal law, etc., at various universities in Turkey. Since 2019, she has also been teaching on an irregular basis as a visiting professor on environmental criminal law and commercial criminal law (in particular on German commercial criminal law with international implications in the winter semester 2022/23 in German, German environmental criminal law in an international comparison and Turkey in German in the winter semester 2023/24) at the University of Kassel and is currently conducting international seminars and events in Germany and Japan as part of the German-Japanese environmental law projects.

She completed her first degree in 1999 at the Faculty of Nursing Sciences (leading to a nursing qualification) at Ege University and
her second degree in 2003 at the Faculty of Law at Kirikkale University.
In 2007, she obtained her Master’s degree (LL.M.) in Criminal Procedure Law at Bielefeld University and also
her doctoral degree (Dr. iur.). in substantive criminal law (covering the general part of Turkish and German criminal law) at Bielefeld University.
Finally, on 15 March 2017, she was awarded the title of “Associate Professor” in criminal law and criminal procedure law in Turkey.
In 2022, she was appointed professor in Turkey (at Gedik University, Istanbul).

She is listed in the register of German-speaking lawyers within the jurisdiction of the Consulate-General in Istanbul.
She is also recognised as an expert witness before various courts.

She specialises in the fields of “criminal law, commercial, environmental, climate and medical criminal law”.
