Curriculum Vitae

I am a political scientist working at the intersection of political sociology, political theory, and international politics, with a transregional focus on Latin America. My research examines political violence, forms of regulation, and the temporalities of solidarity.

Since 2021, I have been Research Associate and Academic Managing Director at the Center for InterAmerican Studies at Bielefeld University, where I am completing my habilitation on hegemony and violence. I am also co-organizer of the Long Term Group “Dimensions of Regulation” (2026–2028) at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research (ZiF) and an associated researcher in the Volkswagen Foundation–funded project “Turning Land into Capital.”

I received my PhD in Political Science from the University of Vienna in 2015 (summa cum laude), with a dissertation on mechanisms of violence in the context of Mexico’s drug war. I subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) on indigenous autonomy and resistance movements, and have held visiting appointments and conducted research in Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Germany, and the United States.
