Confidential support for doctoral researchers in the BGTS

Doctoral researchers sometimes face challenges that are difficult to address within their immediate academic environment. To offer a low-threshold and confidential point of contact, Barbara Gentz (Faculty of Mathematics) and Dietmar Bauer (Faculty of Business Administration and Economics) are available as liaison professors within the BGTS.

They can be approached for a wide range of concerns, including (but not limited to):

  • Conflicts or communication issues with supervisors or colleagues
  • Unclear expectations during the doctoral phase
  • Feelings of stress, overload, or self-doubt
  • Personal or academic concerns without an obvious contact person
  • Difficult decisions, such as changing topics or discontinuing the PhD

You are free to contact either of them by email, phone, or in person. Be sure to mention the BGTS in the subject line when using a private e-mail address. If needed, they can also help direct you to the appropriate support structures within the university.
