This seminar will prepare its participants for their practicum and therefore concentrate on a variety of school- and teaching-related aspects.
First, we will determine the function that the practicum has for the participants and their future professional career. The key features of teaching and learning English in Sek.I and Sek.II will be examined, as well as the characteristics of a present-day language classroom in Germany. Then, the focus will be on the role of classroom observation and the creation of observation tasks according to individual interest. Finally, we will devise several lesson plans (Sek. I and Sek. II) and evaluate them with regard to topic, task design, timing, classroom organisation and the use of media.
Participants will need a HRZ user name to access StudIP.
