230203 Will the UK leave the EU? Anglo-European Relations from 1945 to the Present (S) (SoSe 2016)

This course has been cancelled!

Contents, comment

In his 2015 election campaign, Prime Minister David Cameron promised the British to renegotiate the terms of the UK’s membership of the EU and then put the UK’s membership to a referendum.
This course will briefly chart the history of the UK’s relationship with supranational European organizations, rather fraught from the beginning, focusing on the reasons for rising Euroscepticism, not only in the ranks of the Conservative Party, but also in the wider British public.
