Auf dem Programm des Filmseminars stehen dieses Semester Tierfilme. Im Zentrum des Interesses stehen dabei Filme, die sich in der Ambivalenz zwischen Romantisierung und Kitsch auf der einen Seite und Verantwortung für Tier und Natur auf der anderen Seite bewegen. Der Film "Free Willy" aus dem Jahr 1993 leitete in dieser Hinsicht eine Trendwende ein: Weg vom Klischee des vermenschlichten Tierfreunds à la Flipper und Black Beauty, hin zu einer Anwaltschaft für das Tier, zu neu entdecktem Feingefühl und Parteilichkeit. Des Weiteren wollen wir der Faszination des Tierfilms für Kinder nachgehen, denn der Tierfilm steht wie kaum ein anderer für Abenteuerlust und Freundschaft und weckt Beschützerinstinkte (auf beiden Seiten).
