Contents, comment

Krieg und Gewalt als integraler Teil von Gesellschaft sind in der allgemeinen soziologischen Theorie eher vernachlässigt worden. Ein theoretisches Defizit offenbarte die Diskussion um "Modernität und Barbarei" in der deutschen Soziologie in den 1990er Jahren, die den Ausgangspunkt der Veranstaltung bilden soll. Von stärkerer Bedeutung waren Krieg und Gewalt bei klassischen Theoretikern wie Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, Herbert Spencer, Franz Oppenheimerr oder Karl Polanyi. Diese Autoren werden im Zentrum der Veranstaltung stehen. Ziel ist es, mögliche theoretische Perspektiven zur Konzeptualisierung von Krieg in soziologischen Gesellschaftstheorien vorzustellen.
