Diese Veranstaltung dient als Ergänzung zu einem Seminar oder einer Vorlesung in den Modulen "Angewandte Algorithmik" oder "Spezielle Algorithmen der Bioinformatik für Nebenfach".
In Einzelgesprächen (Sprechstunde oder nach Vereinbarung) werden Themen verteilt, zu denen selbstständig in einer Programmiersprache der eigenen Wahl eine Implementierung angefertigt werden soll. Eine Woche vor der Abschlusspräsentation muss der Source-Code an den Betreuer geschickt werden. In der Abschlusspräsentation führt jeder Teilnehmer seine Software allen anderen Teilnehmern vor. Bei Nichtgefallen besteht die Möglichkeit, bis Ende des Semesters eine Nachbesserung anzufertigen.
