Der Gesang der Sirenen ist seit den Irrfahrten des Odysseus ein zentraler Stoff der Weltliteratur. Im Verlauf des Seminars werden wir uns mit verschiedenen Texten beschäftigen, die sich mit der Darstellung der Sirenen in der Literatur auseinandersetzen. Wir werden uns in großen Schritten durch die Literaturgeschichte bewegen, von der Frühen Neuzeit, über die Romantik bis in die Gegenwartsrezeption der Sirene. Dabei werden wir uns auch mit der Frage beschäftigen, welche Rolle die Sirenen als weibliche Figuren in der Literatur spielen und gendertheoretische Perspektiven von femme fatale bis zu Fragen von Körper-Leiblichkeit diskutieren.
