In den "Round table discussions on Molecular Biology" werden aktuelle Forschungsergebnisse der Molekular- und Zellbiologie bei Tieren und Höheren Pflanzen diskutiert. Jeweils ein Teilnehmer stellt kurz eine Veröffentlichung seiner Wahl vor, die anschließend mit allen Teilnehmern ausführlich im Plenum diskutiert wird. Mögliche Themen sind unter anderem Transkriptionelle und posttranskriptionelle Regulation von Genexpression, microRNAs, Biologische Zeitmessung und die innere Uhr, Pflanzen-Pathogen-Interaktion, die Steuerung der reproduktiven Entwicklung, Live cell imaging. Dabei werden auch die in den Veröffentlichungen verwendeten Techniken erklärt. Sie erwerben wichtige Fähigkeiten wie die Auseinandersetzung mit wissenschaftlichen Daten, kritisches Lesen von Publikationen und die Diskussion in einer wissenschaftlichen Umgebung.
