Das Seminar findet als Block vom 4. bis 7. Februar 2013 statt (Raumangabe folgt).
Das Seminar befasst sich mit dem literarischen Betrieb in Rom, was einerseits die äußeren Umstände und Bedingungen für das Entstehen und Schaffen von Literatur in Rom und andererseits die historische und systematische Betrachtung von Literatur durch die Römer selbst meint. Was waren die Motive und Hintergründe, dass die Römer eine eigene Literatur schufen, wer waren (über die verschiedenen Jahrhunderte hinweg) die Literaturschaffenden in Rom, woher kamen sie und unter welchen Bedingungen verfassten und veröffentlichten sie ihre Werke? Wann und aus welchen Motiven heraus setzte in Rom eine reflektierte Betrachtung von Literatur sowie eine eigene ,Literaturgeschichtsschreibung' ein, welche Spuren haben diese in den Schrift-Quellen hinterlassen und welchen Reflexionsgrad erreichten sie? Zur Beantwortung dieser Fragen werden alle kulturgeschichtlich relevanten Aspekte besprochen sowie einschlägige Schriftquellen behandelt.
