Als historische Vertiefung und Kontextualisierung zum Seminar „Das gegenderte Kloster“ wollen wir zusammen Einführungsliteratur zum Thema Geschlecht im Mittelalter lesen. Wir wollen aber auch danach fragen, wie sich der Blick auf Geschlecht im Mittelalter in den letzten Jahren verändert hat. Schlagworte hierfür sind Frauengeschichte und Geschlechtergeschichte.
Wir wollen auch danach fragen, inwieweit unsere eigenen Begriffe von Geschlecht (und Gender) geeignet oder ausreichend sind, mittelalterliche Vorstellungen und Konstruktionen davon wiederzugeben.
Dabei kommen wir nicht umhin, auch unsere eigene Idee von (modernem) Geschlecht und dessen Konstruiertheit zu reflektieren. Welche Konsequenzen hat das für unsere Arbeit mit den Quellen?
