Netzwerke ermöglichen Computern, Daten miteinander auszutauschen.
Das dies funktioniert, erleben wir jeden Tag, wenn wir im Web surfen oder EMails verschicken. Im Rahmen dieser Veranstaltung wollen wir das "Wie" klären. Wir werden lernen, wie Computer miteinander kommunizieren, welche Programmierschnittstellen es dafür gibt und wie man sie einsetzt.
Die Übung wird sich an dem Buch "UNIX Network Programming" von W. Richard Stevens orientieren. Ein wichtiger Unterschied wird sein, daß wir als Implementierungssprache Perl statt C verwenden werden. Es wird vorausgesetzt, dass die Teilnehmer über ein Grundwissen in dieser Sprache verfügen.
Die Veranstaltung wird im GZI in V2 stattfinden, damit das Erlernte sofort praktisch erprobt werden kann. Aufgrund der Art der Veranstaltung ist eine Begrenzung auf maximal 25 Teilnehmer erforderlich.

Grundwissen der Programmiersprache Perl. Dieses kann bei Bedarf durch
die Veranstaltung "Perl-Praxis" vor Beginn des Semesters erworben oder
aufgefrischt werden.
