Die Fallstudienwerkstatt Schulentwicklung ist ein über zwei Semester (=4 SWS, 6 LP) hinweg zu belegendes Seminar, in dessen Rahmen die Anfertigung einer Fallstudie in einer Schule vorbereitet und begleitet wird. Im Rahmen einer langfristigen Kooperation werden die Studierenden in Teams (i.d.R. 4 Personen) dabei jeweils eine Schule in Bielefeld und Umgebung im Bereich der Unterrichts- und Schulentwicklung unterstützen. Kooperation bedeutet hier: In enger Zusammenarbeit mit VertreterInnen der jeweiligen Schule werden die Studierenden ein Evaluationskonzept erarbeiten, durchführen und auswerten. Aus diesem Grund ist sowohl während des Semesters als auch in der vorlesungsfreien Zeit ein regelmäßiger Aufenthalt in den Schulen notwendig. Terminabsprachen erfolgen mit den schulischen Kooperationspartnern. Als Endprodukt der Kooperation erstellen die Studierenden eine Präsentation der Ergebnisse für die jeweilige Schule. Darüber hinaus wird die Fallstudie in einem unbenoteten Reflexionsgespräch der ganzen Gruppe ausgewertet und abschließend in einem benoteten Fallstudienbericht dargestellt. Dieser stellt die im Profil "Organisation und Schulentwicklung" anzufertigende Fallstudie dar.
