The main objective of this course is to give you, the student, a broad overview of the field of linguistics. 'Introduction to Linguistis' covers the core areas of linguistic description. This will help you understand how and why English is pronounced the way it is; how words are built, where they come from, and what they mean; and how words are put together to form sentences.
