Jörg Wickram ist einer der vielseitigsten Schriftsteller des 16. Jahrhunderts. Seine Bedeutung für den Meistergesang ist unbestritten, und sein „Rollwagenbüchlein“ wird bis heute nachgedruckt und nachgeahmt. Weniger bekannt sind seine Prosaromane, mit denen er das neue Genre zu einem ersten Höhepunkt führte. Das Seminar will an ausgewählten Texten (z.B. „Der jungen Knaben Spiegel“, „Von guten und bösen Nachbarn“, „Der Goldfaden“) die spezifischen Formen frühneuzeitlichen Erzählens im Unterschied sowohl zum Mittelalter wie auch zur Moderne herausarbeiten.
