230821 Englisch: Preparing for the TOEIC, level B1+ and higher (BS) (WiSe 2011/2012)

Contents, comment

The TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) is designed for persons who wish to do an internship or work in a company abroad in an English-speaking setting.

Although the TOEIC was created by the makers of the TOEFL, the vocabulary, tasks and topics on the TOEIC are very different from the TOEFL. The featured topics and formats are modeled on the topics typically covered in Business English classes: careers, workplaces, communication, technology etc.

The TOEIC test consists of two separate sections:

• Listening and Reading (paper-based) and
• Speaking and writing (computer-based)

In course 230821, we will train the test format. You will be able to practice all four sections of the test and do a real-life simulation of both test sections.

Please note:

The language preparation for this course will be done in course 230822, English for International Communication.

If you wish to take the TOEIC, you have to sign up for courses 230821 and 230822.

The Language Center of Bielefeld University is an authorized TOEIC test center and all four sections the TOEIC can be taken here at the university. Test takers that are members of Bielefeld University will pay a discounted test fee of EUR 155 for both test sections.
