Was kommt nach dem Menschen? Was unterscheidet Mensch und Maschine? Welchen anthropologischen Status haben Designerbabys, Klone, Cyborgs und Roboter?
Im Seminar wird eine Reihe literarischer Texte von der Romantik bis zur Gegenwart gelesen, in denen künstliche Menschen und Monster agieren und posthumane Visionen entworfen werden (u.a. E.T.A. Hoffmanns Sandmann, Mary Shelleys Frankenstein, Kazuo Ishiguros Never let me go und Michel Houellebecqs Möglichkeit einer Insel). Darüber hinaus werden philosophische Texte hinzugezogen, in denen anthropologische und ethische Fragen verhandelt werden (u.a. Nietzsches Zarathustra und Sloterdijks „Regeln für den Menschenpark“).
