One goal of the VAMPIRE project (visual active memory processes and
interactive retrieval) carried out by the applied computer science group
and it's international partners has been to build an augmented reality
system which superimposes the users view on a scene with additional
context-dependent information.
In order to interact with the system and request specific information
gathered previously, an architecture should be developed which allows
the integration of multi-modal input modalities like e.g. speech
recognition or pointing gestures.
Although the VAMPIRE project ended recently, further research will be
carried out on these topics. This students project is about further
developing the concepts for the interaction toolkit, the actual design
and implementation of it, based on the existing Open-GL visualisation
software.
