Das Seminar soll einen Überblick über verschiedene Rezeptionsformen antiker Mythologie in lateinischen Texten des Mittelalters vermitteln. Ausgehend von der apologetischen Auseinandersetzung der Kirchenväter mit der antiken Welt der Mythologie werden verschiedene Textgattungen in den Blick genommen: Mythographie, Kommentarliteratur mit verschiedenen Deutungsformen antiker Mythologie (z.B. euhemeristisch oder allegorisch), vor allem mittellateinische Dichtung mit mythologischen Schwerpunkten (darunter auch sogenannte pseudantike Literatur). Ein Schwerpunkt wird auf jeden Fall in der Rezeption Ovids liegen.
