300222 Vertiefung Methoden quantitativ: Angewandte Wahlforschung (S) (WiSe 2019/2020)

Aufbauend auf den Vorlesungen zur Einführung in die Quantitativen Methoden sowie Statistik bietet das Seminar die Möglichkeit der praxisnahen Vertiefung von Methoden der empirischen Sozialforschung. Das Seminar hat insbesondere die Vermittlung von quantitativen Datenanalysekompetenzen zum Ziel. Spezifische Verfahren der Analyse univariater Verteilungen bis hin zu multivariaten Zusammenhängen (Faktorenanalyse, Regressionsanalysen u.ä.) werden exemplarisch anhand von Fragestellungen der Wahlforschung angewandt. Als Statistik-Software kommt Stata zum Einsatz. Ergänzend zu den methodischen Kenntnissen liefert das Seminar einen Überblick über Theorien und empirische Befunde der Wahlforschung. Dazu gehören u.a. soziologische, sozialpsychologische und der Rational Choice Ansätze zur Erklärung individuellen Wahlverhaltens. Neben einzelnen Wahlen und Parteien werden insbesondere langfristige Entwicklungen im Wahlverhalten sowie ländervergleichende Unterschiede diskutiert.
Das Seminar baut auf dem Grundlagenmodul der Empirischen Sozialforschung auf (Vorlesung Einführung in die Quantitativen Methoden und Statistik I). Erwünscht sind Stata-Grundkenntnisse. Für den Fall, dass diese Grundkenntnisse fehlen, können sie die angebotenen Stata-(Block-)Seminare zu Semesterbeginn besuchen oder Lehrbücher wie Kohler und Kreuter (2012) zum Selbststudium nutzen.
