Die Veranstaltung richtet sich in erster Linie an Studierende im Hauptstudium. Nach allgemeinen rechtstheoretischen Überlegungen (Was ist Recht? Was sind Normen?) geht es vor allem um die Auslegung und Anwendung von Gesetzen sowie Analogie und Rechtsfortbildung. Es werden viele Beispiele gegeben, an denen zugleich der Stoff der Grundkurse (vor allem das Privatrecht) wiederholt werden kann. Abschließend darf ein wenig über Recht und Gerechtigkeit nachgedacht werden.
Als Leistungsnachweis wird eine Hausarbeit zum Erwerb des großen Grundlagenscheines angeboten.
