Inhalt: Die Vorlesung wird in die Geschichte nicht nur des Christentums, sondern auch der christlichen Kirche(n) unter einem entwicklungsgeschichtlichen Aspekt einführen. Angefangen vom Leben und Wirken des Religionsstifters über Paulus, die ersten Konzilien und Schismen, das Mittelalter und sein Kampf gegen Häresien einerseits, sein Expansionsdrang mit Kreuzzügen und Heidenmission andererseits, die Reformationszeit, Dreißigjähriger Krieg, Aufklärung, Kirche und Positivismus sowie das Entstehen kirchlicher Sondergemeinschaften bis zur Kirche im Dritten Reich sollen die wesentlichen Stationen der Entwicklung der Kirche, der christlichen Religion und des individuellen Glaubens in Deutschland nachvollzogen und in einen geistesgeschichtlichen Zusammenhang gestellt werden.
