Techniken der Metaanalyse erlauben die statistische Zusammenfassung von Primärstudien zu einer bestimmten Fragestellung. Metaanalytische Befunde dienen Psychologen oft als Basis für wissenschaftliche Forschung und Vorgehen in der Praxis. Sie schaffen nicht nur einen Überblick über einen aktuellen Forschungsstand, sondern erlauben auch die Einschätzung eines Effekts (z.B. des Erfolgs einer Maßnahme oder eines Zusammenhangs zwischen Variablen) über viele Studien hinweg.
In diesem Workshop lernen die Teilnehmer grundlegende Konzepte und das allgemeine Vorgehen der Metaanalyse kennen. So sollen Studierende befähigt werden, veröffentlichte Metaanalysen interpretieren und kritisch bewerten zu können. Außerdem werden in praktischen Übungen die Planungs- und Arbeitsschritte einer Metaanalyse beispielhaft nach Hunter und Schmidt (2004) gemeinsam durchgeführt.
