In der Vorlesung wird kriminologisches Basiswissen vermittelt, das eine erste Orientierung innerhalb dieser Wissenschaftsdisziplin erlaubt. Es werden u.a. folgende Bereiche behandelt: Geschichte und wissenschaftlicher Standort der Kriminologie; Methoden kriminologischer Forschung; Kriminalitätstheorien; Umfang und Struktur von Kriminalität; Forschung zur Täterperson; Verbrechenskontrolle; Viktimologie.
