Social inequalities can extend across a wide range of dimensions and pose significant challenges to societies due to their potential consequences. This seminar will look at the development and, in particular, the reproduction of social inequalities from a life course perspective. To this end, various areas in which social inequality can be observed (e.g. education, material wealth, health) will be examined and linked to various concepts of life course research (e.g. transitions, events, age effects, duration of phases). The interplay between different areas of life and different life courses of individuals is also discussed.

The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
Study achievement:
Participation in group work (e.g. working on exercises, development of research designs, data collection and evaluation), moderation or protocol work and presentations according to the lecturer's specifications. The study achievement serves the communicative practice and the learning of important abilities in the context of the seminar. The study achievement is part of the self-study and the attendance time and corresponds to a time expenditure of approximately 30 hours.
