Looking at a broad spectrum of Asian American writing including texts from Chinese American, Indian American and Korean American authors, we will analyze narrative strategies and their relation to ethnic and/or postethnic self representation in poems, memoirs, a novel and a play. The class structure will be based upon group moderation, in-class workshops and class discussions. Among the course requirements are a mid-term and a final exam in which students are asked to engage critically with the texts discussed in class.
