Social Policy is often linked to welfare states and industrialised economies. However, social policy is increasingly global and has resulted in attempts at policy transfer and application in the Global South. This class will explore the underlying contradictions and potential obstacles of social policy implementation in the Global South, issues of policy transfer and universal policy prescriptions, as well as the emergence of social policy developed by and for the Global South
