Organisationen stellen in der modernen Gesellschaft (gegenüber anderen Sozialgebilden wie etwa Familie und Gruppe) einen spezifischen und in fast allen gesellschaftlichen Lebensbereichen verbreiteten Typus von Sozialsystemen dar. Entsprechend der Allgemeinheit des Phänomens und der Verschiedenheit seiner Erscheinungsformen sind Themenspektrum, Fragestellung, Ansätze und Methoden der Organisationssoziologie weit gespannt. Ziel des Seminars ist es, Studierende des Grundstudiums anhand von ausgewählten theoretischen und empirischen Beiträgen systematisch in diese Soziologie einzuführn. U.a. werden folgende Themen behandelt: Prozesse der Herausbildung von Organisationen, Strukturmerkmale und Funktionsweisen von formalen Organisationen, das Spannungsverhältnis der Organisation zu ihren Mitgliedern, Einfluß von Umwelten und Institutionen auf Organisationen.
