Das Seminar behandelt am Beispiel vor allem des Deutschen ein Grundproblem jeder Beschäftigung mit Grammatik: Wie lautet die "richtige" Formulierung einer in der Sprache gültigen Regel? Wann haben wir es dementsprechend mit einer Ausnahme zu tun? Wie lässt sich eine Ausnahme von einem Regelverstoß unterscheiden? Was sind überhaupt die Ursachen dafür, warum Ausnahmen und Zweifelsfälle zur grammatischen Natur einer Sprache dazugehören? Wie lässt sich unter solchen Bedingungen überhaupt feststellen, welche unter verschiedenen Möglichkeiten der Regelformulierung (bspw. im Duden) für dasselbe Phänomen die geeignetste ist? Wir werden ausgewählte Phänomene aus verschiedenen Bereichen der Grammatik des Deutschen behandeln und uns anhand ausgewählter Forschungsliteratur damit beschäftigen, welche Antworten auf diese Fragen in der Linguistik gegeben werden.
