Please note: the seminar will most likely take place as a mixture of both: actual session at university as well as asynchronous/online parts. I will try to keep the seminar concept as flexible as possible to take into account your needs and wishes as well as the development of the pandemic. Let’s work together to turn this into a good experience for everyone.
This seminar will serve as a first introduction to methodological approaches to teaching English as a foreign language in the primary school classroom. We will firstly focus on perspectives of the teacher, the learner as well as the curriculum when planning lessons. We will also address the planning process as such and how to work with learning objectives to structure your lesson planning. You will then get to know some of the most widely used methodological approaches to teaching English (in primary school) on a) a theoretical basis as well as b) with some practical ideas for the classroom. Throughout engaging with theoretical foundations and applications for your future teaching, we will particularly focus on making learning accessible for everyone – including the use of digital media.
