Ziel des Seminars ist es, eine vertiefende Einführung in die zentralen Prinzipien der sozialen Informationsverarbeitung zu geben. Dabei werden unter anderem folgende Themen behandelt: Wissensrepräsentation, Wissensaktivierung, Wissensgenerierung, vergleichende Informationsverarbeitung, automatische Informationsverarbeitung. Aktuelle theoretische Konzepte und empirische Befunde zu diesen Bereichen werden exemplarisch dargestellt. Die Literatur liegt fast ausschließlich in englischer Sprache vor.

Folgende Ziele sollen erreicht werden:
1.Kennenlernen aktueller Forschung zum Thema „Soziale Kognition“
2. Kritische und aktive Auseinandersetzung mit psychologischer Fachliteratur zum Thema und Fähigkeit zu Analyse und Diskussion derselben.
3. Einübung der englischen Fachsprache in der Psychologie.

Requirements for participation, required level

Als Nachweis für eine aktive Teilnahme ist eine regelmäßige Präsenz in der Lehrveranstaltung erforderlich. Ebenso müssen hierzu die Zeitschriftenartikel wöchentlich gelesen und ggf. Aufgaben vorbereitet werden.
Es wird erwartet, dass die TeilnehmerInnen sich kreative Lehr-/Lernformen zunutze zu machen, um die anderen TeilnehmerInnen beim Lernen zu unterstützen. Referate und „Frontalunterricht“ sind nicht vorgesehen.
Weiterhin wird erwartet, dass alle TeilnehmerInnen in der Lage sind, sich an den Diskussionen über die Lektüre aktiv und regelmäßig zu beteiligen.
Für jede Sitzung sind Kurzzusammenfassungen der Lektüre schriftlich zu erstellen und einzureichen.
