In dieser Übung werden Sozialwissenschaftler vorgestellt, die für die Entwicklung des soziologischen Denkens von grundlegender, oft nachhaltiger Bedeutung geworden sind. Dazu zählen u. a. Auguste Comte, Herbert Spencer, Karl Marx, Emile Durkheim, Georg Simmel, Max Weber, Karl Mannheim, Norbert Elias, George Herbert Mead, Talcott Parsons und Ralf Dahrendorf. Neben dem theoretischen Gehalt soll die Zeitgebundenheit soziologischen Denkens deutlich werden.

Eine Einzelleistung kann als Hausarbeit (10-15 S.), als Mündliche Prüfung (20-30 Min. über sechs Themen nach Wahl) sowie als Referat mit schriftlicher Ausarbeitung (7-10 S.) erbracht werden
