Because the teachers of this seminar regard J. W. Fowler’s 25-questions faith development interview as one of the best instruments for investigating biographical change and transformation in religion, and because they have decades of experience with this interview format, they offer hands-on training to young researchers who intent to participate in research projects or consider using this instrument in their own research. This training will be based on new and yet unpublished parts of our current revision of the Manual for Faith Development Research and the digital scoring sheet. The Webinar is divided in two modules:
A. Evaluation of the Faith Development Interview (end of March – beginning of May, 2015)
B. Case Study Writing (May – mid-June, 2015)
Each module includes four web meetings of four hours each. In two homework phases in each module, participants evaluate faith development interviews and draft a case study. Scheduled time for the meetings is Saturday 16:00-20:00 (German time = UTC+1).
In this seminar, participants communicate in English, study together with students from the U.S.A. and other countries, and come together in in a virtual classroom. Participants need (nothing more) than internet access; they should be equipped with ear phones, microphone and web cam (which are built-in in most notebooks, but external devices may offer better communication).
This kind of practical training requires limitation to a small-group seminar, please apply for admission by sending an email to Heinz.Streib@uni-bielefeld.de. Schedule and reading list for the entire webinar will be emailed to participants who indicate their interest.
