Sexualität folgt nicht aus Gender in dem Sinne, dass das Gender, das man selber 'ist', darüber bestimmt, welche Art von Sexualität man 'hat'. Wir versuchen über diese Dinge auf ganz gewöhnliche Weise zu sprechen, indem wir unser Gender angeben, unsere Sexualität offenbaren, doch wir verfangen uns ungewollt im ontologischen Dickicht und in epistemologischen Dilemmata. Bin ich überhaupt ein Gender? Und 'habe' ich eine Sexualität? Oder stellt sich vielleicht heraus, dass das 'Ich', das sein Gender innehaben sollte, aufgelöst wird, weil es ein Gender ist, dass ein Gender immer aus einer Quelle stammt, die anderswo ist, und auf etwas gerichtet ist, das außerhalb meiner selbst liegt, und in einer Sozialität geschaffen wird, die nicht vollständig durch mich zustande kommt?" Diesen Fragen möchte das Seminar bis in das ontologische Dickicht und die epistemologischen Dilemmata hinein, von denen Judith Butler hier spricht, folgen. Dabei soll das Verhältnis der Reproduktion Männlicher Herrschaft (Bourdieu) und der Unverfügbarkeit Sexueller Differenz (Irigaray) im Mittelpunkt stehen. Neben Butler, Irigaray und Bourdieu sollen dabei weitere grundlegende Texte der Gender und Queer Studies gelesen werden.
